Ongoing History Daily: The day Chris Cornell almost drowned in an underwater pipe

While on a trip to Australia, Soundgarden’s Chris Cornell decided to go swimming in a bay in the middle of the night. As he was swimming about eight feet below the surface, he managed to run into a pipe that was just a few feet in diameter. When I say, “ran into a pipe,” he actually ended up swimming INTO it. And he got stuck. In the dark. Cue the freak-out. “I had to figure out how to turn around and get back off it without dying–which is how I’m talking to you now,” he said afterwards. Lemme tell you something: if that ever happened to me, I’d never so much as get into a bathtub ever again.
